STATE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY REPORT

TO BE RELEASED WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28

The Council on Environmental Quality will release its annual report on the status of Connecticut’s environment on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at 10:30 AM in the Russell Room, 3rd  Floor, 79 Elm Street (the “DEP Building”), Hartford.

The report will highlight several trends in the quality of Connecticut’s air, water, and wildlife, including challenges encountered in 2005.

There will be a brief presentation at 10:30 by Council Chairman Thomas Harrison.  Members and staff will answer questions, and will be available for more detailed discussions, if desired, immediately afterward.  (This presentation will follow the Council’s regularly-scheduled 9:00 AM meeting.)

The Council is a state agency that is independent of the Department of Environmental Protection.  It is required by law to deliver a report to the governor every year on the status of the state’s environment.  Members are appointed by the governor and legislative leaders.
