• AG Jepsen: Conn. Leads $18.5M Settlement with Target Corporation over 2013 Data Breach

  Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut has joined with 46 other states and the District of Columbia in an $18.5 million settlement with the Target Corporation to resolve the states' investigation into the retail company's 2013 data breach. The settlement represents the largest multistate data breach settlement achieved to date.

• AG Jepsen: Former Corinthian College Students Eligible for Federal Student Loan Cancellation

  Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut has joined at least 42 other states and the District of Columbia in notifying residents who attended schools operated by Corinthian Colleges, Inc. that they may be eligible for cancellation of their federal student loans used to attend those schools. If a student’s federal loan is cancelled, the student will make no more payments on the loan, and any payments already made will be refunded.

• Attorney General Jepsen Leads Multistate Coalition in $863M State-Federal Settlement with Moody's

  Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut, the U.S. Department of Justice, 20 other states and the District of Columbia have reached a settlement agreement with Moody's Corporation, Moody's Investor Services, Inc. and Moody's Analytics, Inc. resolving allegations that the credit rating agency mislead investors when it rated structured finance securities in the lead-up to the 2008 financial crisis. The settlement culminates a seven-year effort led by Connecticut to hold Moody's responsible for its role in the 2008 financial crisis.

  Connecticut today joined with 17 other states and the District of Columbia in filing a lawsuit against the Trump Administration's decision to abruptly stop making healthcare cost-sharing reduction (CSR) subsidy payments required by the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) – a move that will put health coverage for more than six million Americans at risk while increasing costs, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

  Attorney General George Jepsen has joined a coalition of 15 other attorneys general, the California Air Resources Board, and the Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago in notifying the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of their intention to sue the Agency. In a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, the coalition provides the required notice of their intention to sue for failing to fulfill its mandatory obligation under the Clean Air Act to control methane emissions from existing oil and natural gas sources and for "unreasonably delaying" the issuance of such controls.

  Attorney General George Jepsen today announced that Connecticut has joined 18 other attorneys general in a federal lawsuit against Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and the United States Department of Education that seeks to stop the department's abandonment of new rules to hold abusive colleges and universities accountable for misconduct and to relieve their students from federal loan indebtedness incurred as a result of misconduct.

  Under a settlement agreement approved by the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) yesterday, electric supply company Palmco Power CT, LLC will pay $5 million to the state of Connecticut and relinquish its electric supplier license for a period of five years, Attorney General George Jepsen and Consumer Counsel Elin Swanson Katz said.

• Coalition of 16 Attorneys General File Amicus Brief Supporting Washington State Lawsuit against President Trump’s Executive Order

  Attorney General George Jepsen has joined with 15 other attorneys general in asking a federal appeals court to leave in place a temporary restraining order issued by the federal District Court in Seattle that has halted President Donald Trump's executive order barring individuals from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States.

• Conn. Reaches State-Federal Settlement with Hartford Dispensary to Resolve False Claims Act Allegations

  The Hartford Dispensary will pay $627,000 through a federal-state settlement to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by falsely certifying to federal and state officials that it had a current medical director that was performing his duties in accordance with federal and state law, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby said today.
