ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG SUES EPA TO PROTECT CALIFORNIA'S ADVANCED CLEAN CAR STANDARDS
Attorney General William Tong today joined a coalition led by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra suing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over its attempt to revoke California's waiver permitting the state's greenhouse gas (GHG) and zero emission vehicle (ZEV) standards. The action, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, is part of the coalition’s ongoing fight to protect California’s Advanced Clean Car Standards. These standards are followed, in whole or in part, by 13 other states including Connecticut and are a key part of state efforts to protect public health and the environment.

Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 19 attorneys general in filing a comment letter opposing the Council of Environmental Quality’s (CEQ) draft guidance on consideration of greenhouse gas emissions under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). NEPA serves as the cornerstone of America’s environmental regulatory framework and requires agencies to consider environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions and the effects of climate change, as part of their decision-making process.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG SUPPORTS DACA HOLDERS IN SCOTUS BRIEF
Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 16 attorneys general led by New York Attorney General Letitia James in filing a brief in the United States Supreme Court in the coalition’s ongoing lawsuit to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The lawsuit, originally filed in September 2017, will be heard by the Supreme Court this fall. The suit argues that the Trump Administration’s attempt to revoke DACA was based on a faulty legal analysis and harmed State residents, institutions, and economies.

Attorney General William Tong today joined a group of 21 state attorneys general in challenging the Trump Administration’s effort to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals. If the administration is allowed to move forward, Haitian TPS holders in Connecticut and other states would lose their legal status, leaving them vulnerable to deportation.
