ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG JOINS 43 STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL IN ANNOUNCING $168 MILLION IN DEBT RELIEF FOR 22,000 FORMER ITT TECH STUDENTS
Attorney General William Tong joined 43 state attorneys general in announcing an agreement to obtain $168 million in debt relief for 18,664 former ITT students nationwide. Two Connecticut students are covered in the settlement and will receive a combined $31,757.70 in debt relief.

Attorney General William Tong led a 44-state coalition in announcing a lawsuit against Teva Pharmaceuticals and 19 of the nation's largest generic drug manufacturers alleging a broad conspiracy to artificially inflate and manipulate prices, reduce competition and unreasonably restrain trade for more than 100 different generic drugs.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG EXPANDS LAWSUIT AGAINST PURDUE, SACKLERS, ALLEGES FRAUDULENT TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO EVADE ACCOUNTABILITY TO CONNECTICUT VICTIMS OF OPIOID EPIDEMIC
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has filed an expanded, amended lawsuit against Purdue Pharma, members of the Sackler family, former members of Purdue's Board of Directors and corporate executives, and Sackler-controlled companies alleging fraudulent transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars from Purdue Pharma to the Sacklers to evade liability and accountability to Connecticut victims of the opioid epidemic.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG JOINS MULTI-STATE AMICUS BRIEF PROTECTING WOMEN'S ACCESS TO ABORTION SERVICES
Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 20 attorneys general today in filing an amicus brief asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to affirm a lower court's finding that a Kentucky law that severely restricts access to abortion services is unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Attorney General William Tong, Connecticut Department of Social Services Commissioner Deidre S. Gifford, and State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, today announced a lawsuit against Therapy Unlimited, LLC and its owner, Catherine Risigo Wickline, for allegedly engaging in pervasive and illegal schemes to submit false claims to Connecticut's Medicaid program and the state employee/retiree health plan for millions of dollars of reimbursements that they were not entitled to receive.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG SUES TRUMP ADMINISTRATION OVER PUBLIC CHARGE RULE
Attorney General William Tong today joined the states of New York, Vermont and the City of New York in suing the Trump Administration over its Public Charge rule that seeks to deny green cards and visas to immigrants that have used or are deemed likely to use government assistance programs. Such a rule would cause immediate and long-term harm to public health and our economy, with particular harm to communities of color.

AG Tong, Banking Commissioner Perez Caution Federal Workers to Beware of Predatory Online Payday Lenders during Ongoing Federal Shutdown
While many Connecticut financial institutions are stepping up to the plate to provide no-interest, low-interest loans and other financial assistance to furloughed federal workers during the ongoing government shutdown, Attorney General William Tong and Department of Banking Commissioner Jorge Perez today cautioned workers to avoid predatory online payday lenders who may seek to exploit struggling workers with unaffordable and potentially illegal payday loans or disguise themselves as participants in Governor Lamont’s zero-percent public-private loan program passed by the legislature yesterday.
