Gov. Malloy: NewOak Capital Establishes New Operations in Danbury
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, and state and local officials, today announced that NewOak Capital, a financial services firm based in New York City, will establish NewOak Credit Services, LLC in Danbury. The expansion is expected to create up to 100 new jobs within three years.

Gov. Malloy Announces Emergency Assistance for State's Weather-Damaged Farms
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced emergency assistance is available to the Connecticut farms that have suffered unrecoverable losses in production and property damage in 2013 due to severe weather events, including excessive precipitation this past month. A total of $5 million has been designated for these grants, with individual awards based on the number of qualifying applications received by the July 15, 2013, deadline.

Gov. Malloy: Economic Development Initiatives Help Small Businesses Create Jobs in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today visited four small businesses in Manchester, Meriden, New Haven, and Stamford that are participating in the state's Small Business Express Program (EXP). The program, administered by DECD, offers grants and matching loans to Connecticut companies with 100 or fewer employees.

Gov. Malloy: State To Support Cutting-Edge Biotech Startup
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $4.25 million in state support for Arvinas Inc., a New Haven-based biotechnology startup that is developing a new class of drugs to combat cancer and other diseases. Located in the city’s Science Park, Arvinas is founded on research licensed from Yale University and is in the process of hiring its first 25 employees.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by U.S. Commerce Department Acting Director of International Trade Ken Hyatt, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, state and local officials, and representatives of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) today celebrated the passage of Public Act 13-56 – An Act Concerning Encouraging the Exportation of State Products and Services Through the Small Business Express Program.

Gov. Malloy: FSC CT, Inc. Relocated Financial Firm to Greenwich
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $5 million in loans and grants to FSC CT, Inc. to relocate Fifth Street’s operations to Greenwich. The company, through its Fifth Street affiliates, will bring approximately 50 jobs from its present location in White Plains, New York, and plans to add at least 46 more jobs as it grows over the coming decade.

Gov. Malloy Tours East Hartford Lettuce Farm Recovering and Growing With Help From PLANT Grant
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today toured Connecticut Hydroponic Farm in East Hartford, which received a Production Loss Assistance Needed Today (PLANT) grant of over $79,000 to help recover from damage incurred as a result of February’s severe snowstorm.

Gov. Malloy Tours Small Business in Bridgeport
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today toured Byrne Woodworking, a manufacturer of high-end custom cabinetry and millwork, one year after the company received a Small Business Express (EXP) Grant. The business, at 170 Herbert St., Bridgeport, was able to hire three full-time cabinetmakers, retain seven jobs, and break ground on a 1,800-square-foot expansion.

Malloy announced today at the MetroHartford Alliance's "Rising Star Breakfast" that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Israel Tech Transfer Organization (ITTN) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the first step in laying the foundation for better and more productive economic and research collaborations between Connecticut and Israeli businesses, research institutions and universities.

Gov. Malloy: State/Local Partnerships Restore Brownfield Sites for Economic Development
