Gov. Malloy: Investment in the Iconic Thompson Speedway Will Create Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide Thompson International Speedway, LLC with an $800,000 loan to upgrade its existing facility in Thompson. Founded in 1940, the company has 48 employees and plans to hire at least 23 more employees over the next two years.

Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith and other state and local officials, today visited precision manufacturing company, A-1 Machining Co., which will receive funding through DECD to expand, purchase machinery and equipment and make leasehold improvements at its new facility.

Gov. Malloy: State Will Continue to Support the Growth of Connecticut’s Aerospace Manufacturing Industry
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that AMCO Precision Tool Inc., a leader in the aerospace and commercial parts machining industry, is expanding its manufacturing operations in Berlin to support a $160 million contract over the next 20 years.

Gov. Malloy: Starwood Hotels Worldwide Will Expand in Stamford and Create Jobs for Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, Starwood executives and other state and local officials, today announced that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. is expanding its global headquarters in Stamford. Starwood will be creating 340 new full-time jobs in the state, in addition to retaining its current workforce of 980 employees.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Awarded Federal Planning Grant to Study How to Strengthen State’s Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Workforce
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), which have partnered on a Regional Aerospace and Defense Exchange (RADE) initiative to study the impact of defense contract reductions to Connecticut and New England, will receive a $1.25 million U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (DoD OEA) grant for the joint effort.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that vineyard vines®, a fast-growing clothing retailer based in Stamford, is investing in a new headquarters in the city and plans to create 200 new jobs and retain 150 existing jobs over the next 5 years.

Gov. Malloy: Praxair Building New World Headquarters in Danbury
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Praxair, Inc., a global leader in industrial gases and applications, will maintain its world headquarters in Danbury and invest approximately $65 million to build a new 100,000 square-foot corporate facility. The company will retain 535 positions statewide, and is incented to grow up to 120 new jobs over the next five years.

Gov. Malloy: State to Invest $19 Million in Waterbury for Economic Development and Infrastructure Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Waterbury Mayor Neil M. O’Leary and other state and local officials, today announced a $19.2 million package of state investment in six development and improvement projects in downtown Waterbury, as well as funding for the design of a new signalization system for Metro-North’s Waterbury Branch.

Gov. Malloy: $4.9 Million in Emergency Assistance Will Help Weather-Damaged Small Farms Recover

Malloy announced today that the state Department of Agriculture (DoAg), in cooperation with the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), has approved 239 awards totaling $4,922,280 in emergency assistance for Connecticut farms through the Production Loss Assistance Needed Today (PLANT) grant program.
