Gov. Malloy Announces $480 Million in Grants and Loans for Wastewater Treatment Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a major package of $480 million in grants and loans to protect the state’s water quality by financing local projects aimed at improving wastewater treatment plants and sanitary sewer systems is expected to be approved when the State Bond Commission meets Friday.

Gov. Malloy Lifts Travel Ban for Local Travel in Fairfield County and Litchfield County
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced this morning that he has adjusted the state’s travel ban. As of 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, the ban has been lifted for local roads and local travel in Fairfield and Litchfield counties.

New England Governors Take Action on Opioid Abuse, National Surface Transportation Legislation, and Low Income Home Heating Assistance
Today, the Coalition of Northeastern Governors (CONEG), under the leadership of Chair Governor Dannel P. Malloy (CT) and Vice-chair Governor Charlie Baker (MA) took action on three fronts, issuing letters regarding the opioid epidemic, national surface transportation legislation, and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Gov. Malloy Announces Brian Durand to Serve as Chief of Staff Starting September 28
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that Brian Durand, who currently serves in his office as Deputy Chief of Staff, will replace outgoing Chief of Staff Mark Ojakian beginning Monday, September 28, 2015. Durand has served as the Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff since 2012 and previously worked at the Office of Policy and Management.

Gov. Malloy Plans Transformation of Meriden Highway Interchange
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today visited one of the most complex and congested highway interchanges in Connecticut where I-91, I-691 and Route 15 converge in Meriden and called for a new design of the area to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and reduce congestion.

Gov. Malloy Announces Approval to Reduce Standardized Testing for Grade 11 Students
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has approved a waiver request he submitted on behalf of the State of Connecticut to reduce the amount of standardized testing required for public high school students. In an effort to eliminate duplicative testing, reduce over-testing, mitigate student stress, and address parental concerns, the Governor last fall sought federal approval to replace the 11th grade Smarter Balance Assessment - or SBAC exam - with the SAT.With today's approval, starting in the fall 2015-2016 school-year, the SAT will be used in lieu of SBAC, and will be free for all Connecticut students.
