Gov. Malloy Nominates Maria Araujo Kahn and Raheem Mullins to Supreme Court, William Bright to Appellate Court
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is nominating the Honorable Maria Araujo Kahn of Cheshire and the Honorable Raheem L. Mullins of Cromwell to fill vacancies as associate justices on the Connecticut Supreme Court – the state’s highest court. Both nominees currently serve as judges on the Appellate Court.

Gov. Malloy Signs Bipartisan Budget, Highlights Fully-Funded State Pensions and New Reforms to Strengthen Struggling Cities
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed into law the bipartisan budget agreement reached by members of the General Assembly, highlighting important reforms for strengthening Hartford and other cities, fully-funded state pensions, and other key initiatives championed by his administration. The Governor line-item vetoed appropriations in support of a new hospital tax proposal, citing its unsound legal basis in federal law, and urged lawmakers to pass the workable language his administration provided that will make the proposal legal and successful.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Rob Klee are applauding an announcement by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt that he is reversing course on his decision to postpone the implementation of the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by one year – a move that the Connecticut officials had criticized, saying that the delay would put Connecticut at an economic disadvantage against states that ignore critical air quality issues while also prolonging the risk of illness for thousands of residents in the State.

Gov. Malloy Announces Site Selection for Connecticut’s Amazon HQ2 Bid
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today announced that the State of Connecticut has chosen two sites for its proposal to Amazon for the company’s second headquarters – the Hartford and Stamford regions. Last month, Amazon announced that it was seeking a site for a second headquarters – known as “Amazon HQ2” – in North America, which will create tens of thousands of additional jobs and bring billions in investment.

Gov. Malloy Announces CTtransit Bus Service Will Expand to the UConn Storrs Campus Beginning August 13
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that beginning August 13, the existing CTtransit bus route that services destinations between Hartford and Tolland is expanding further east and will now include new stops in Storrs. The route extension will – for the first time ever – provide UConn students, faculty, and staff the ability to connect to the main UConn campus in Storrs, the downtown Hartford campus, and UConn Health in Farmington via public transit, in addition to a wide variety of other destinations in between.
